Ever wondered who coded your favourite video player? Ever thought how you get the complete suite of softwares free of cost?
Ever stumbled on bugs in your favourite software and said WTF? Now, "STOP COMPLAINING, START CODING".
Hackfest is one small drop of it. The event aims to serve as an introductory event for contributing to the Free world.

We take some softwares that we use in our day to day life and fix bugs, add features and more. The event will focus mainly on usability
enhancements and bugs so as to provide everyone a quick step into the open culture and sharing.

The event is completely informal. Come in as a user and return as a contributor to your faviourite software.
The co-ods will decide a few commonly used softwares. Any software can be proposed by the participants provided they can catch up.

The event will begin with a small session on how to get your development environment set up, how to contribute via bug reports, patches etc. and how to use the basic tools for
coding like the gcc, gdb, perl, php, eclipse etc. The next session will have nothing except coding and enhancing.

The event is currently planned as a one day event, but can be extended depending on the interest of the participants.

This page will be soon updated with the softwares we plan to use. Mail the co-ods in case you want any other softwares to be included.

Please note: Co-ods don't rule this event (unless situation becomes chaotic). We are looking forward to study from the community who is going to gather for the coding fest.
You might have to refil the coffee by your own. We will get busy soon.

Nothing. Simply nothing! come in with a mug of coffee (or any of ur fav drink, we don't provide free beer ;) ) get the source code and play around.
Personal laptops and netbooks are most welcome. Anyone who needs GNU/Linux to be installed will be helped.
There will be a restriction the no.of participants, and will have to confirm their participation at the onsite registration desk on the day of the event.
